Forgiveness is the gateway to healing your heart and soul. When we resent and hold onto things that have hurt us, the only one who suffers is the self. Science has proven that our emotions will wreck havoc on the body if they are not dealt with. Everything is energy so you have to think of an emotion as energy. If that energy isn’t dealt with and released it will attach itself to different parts of the body. With time, once enough of that energy has build up in a particular area, the body will create illness and disease to bring your attention to it and help you heal your emotional pain.
Every time we rethink about a person or a moment in time that hurt us, we are once again inflicting that pain upon ourselves and creating grounds for potential illness to manifest. With every bad emotion that we feel, ignore, and not process or release we slowly fill up our bodies up with poison and put strain on our entire immune system.
It’s not to say that you are not justified in being hurt or upset, but if you think it’s some sort of punishment to stay mad at the other person you’re wrong. You are the only who suffers when you refuse to forgive. What I’ve come to learn is that a lot of the times people don’t even realize they hurt us. Most people are too caught up in themselves to take the time to think how their actions will impact others. Because all of our actions good or bad have consequences, only those with emotional intelligence really understand what that means and act accordingly. So while you’re walking around feeling justified in being hurt or upset because “they did this to you” THEY might not even be aware that they hurt you. It would be foolish to continue to punish yourself for their actions.
One of the greatest lessons in life I have learnt thus far is to not take anything anyone else says or does personally. Every mind is a world of its own. Every single person processes things through their own lenses of perception and because we all grew up so differently no two people will ever see everything the same. When people are happy they treat you wonderfully and when they are mad or sad they treat you like sh*t. None of which has to do with you or what you’ve done. It simply is how they are processing life and it’s best to make peace with it; brush it off and keep it moving.
Damaged people go around damaging other people without even knowing it. I think after a certain age we should all practice more self-reflection and learn to take responsibility for our own actions instead of always blaming others. People can be selfish and insensitive, but you don’t have to let their actions hurt you. Stay aware, stay present and worry about your own life. Do not get sucked into other peoples bullsh*t. Remember the faster you can forgive, forget, and move on the faster you can get back to being happy and loving your life.
